1º First Contact
The prospect customer is informed about MSC certification process, and the rights and responsibilities involved. |
2º Pre-evaluation
OIA provides a confidential pre-evaluation to assess if the fishery is in conditions to reach MSC standards. If so, the complete evaluation process is started. |
3º Complete evaluation
A team of international experts evaluate the fishery according to MSC Principles and Criteria, by means of key indicators for each component of the evaluation.
This process involves OIA, MSC and all interested parties that may contribute with objective information.
The evaluation is reviewed by external experts who provide technical precisions.
The system procedure includes the introduction of objections to the certification. |
4º Certification
Once the evaluation is approved, the Certification team issues the OIA-MSC Certificate of Sustainable Fisheries |
5º Chain of Custody Certification
The final products can carry the OIA-MSC seal only if the traceability of the Sustainable Fishery products are certified along the Chain of Custody. |
