GLOBALGAP is a quality management system, which aims to agree on the standards and procedures to develop Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

This system started in 1997 as an initiative of European retailers and supermarkets.

The purpose of GLOBALGAP is to reduce risks, assuring quality and safety of primary products, and emphasizing the application of “good practices” to ensure a sustainable production.

The GLOBALGAP standards respond to CONSUMER needs who require today SAFE FOOD PRODUCTS, WITH A KNOWN ORIGIN AND PRODUCED ACCORDING TO WARRANTEED SANITARY CONDITIONS .

GLOBALGAP is single rule that integrates in a modular format different groups of products, from the production of plants and animals to plant propagation material and manufacturing of compound feed.

Requirements for labeling

Please contact OIA office before designing your label.

• The logo, trademark, and EurepGAP registration number can be used in marketing material, pallets, boxes, bags or any packaging way not destined to final consumer and sales points.

• The INMETRO and EurepGAP logos can only be used together with OIA seal.



	Please remember that all product labels must be previously approved by OIA before printing and being used.

Aspects comprised by GLOBALGAP standards

	Traceability, tracking the product all along the food supply chain.
	Production techniques, assessing the controlled use of agrichemicals to reduce their impact on food, people and environment.
	Environmental protection.
	Sanitary aspects to avoid chemical, physical and biological contamination of food, therefore warranting food security.
	Social aspects, focusing on an adequate work environment, which considers the working and sanitary needs of workers involved in the food chain.

Quality Certification

OIA is accredited by GLOBALGAPfor Fruit and Vegetables Certification and IFA and has a team of experienced inspectors and auditors accredited by GLOBALGAP for this program.
