OIA: 1º ORGANIC TOP WOOL CERTIFIER

Organización Internacional Agropecuaria (OIA), the main Organic Certifier of Argentine Sheep Producers, has been authorized by SENASA to certify Scoured and Combed Organic "TOP" Wool.

As a result of almost one year of work between SENASA, sheep producers, wool industry technicians, public and private organizations from Chubut Province, and OIA, the First Country Official Standard for this sector was developed.
 
On March 11th, 2008 SENASA approved the OIA´s Organic Standards Manual for Processing Wool and Textile Products of Animal Fiber Origin. OIA is the first certification body to obtain such an approval.
 
This allows certification of Scoured and Combed Organic "TOP’s" Wool Organic using the OIA seal.
 
The wool industry has achieved a significant gain in added value, using the OIA organic certification and are obtaining between a 15% and 20% premium over the conventional product.
