"We have to transparent many chains", said Landa.
In a radio interview, the Director of OIA talked about the business case for organic products, as well, emphasized a positive change in the consumer.
The Agr. Eng. Pedro A. Landa was interviewed on the 12th of November by Gastón Guido and Horacio Esteban in the radio program Infocampo by Belgrano AM 950. There, Landa talked about the general situation of the organic market in Argentina and in the world, focusing on marketing. "An organic product is not as expensive as consumers believe. The market chain distort it, because they have the concept that it has to be worth twice the value it already has”, said the Director of Organización Internacional Agropecuaria (OIA).
Also, Landa, President of MAPO (Argentine Movement for Organic Production), added: "We have many chains to transparent. In many cases, when cutting with the chain, end up benefiting. One challenge with organic products in the world is trying to have different retail chains. We can not pretend that the traditional marketing chain commodities products have the same function for a specialty".
When asked about the attitude of Argentine consumers to turn to organic, Landa diagnosed: "It's a problem of priorities. The information is what will change and is changing the profile and perception of who consumes. Basically, is to know exactly how is produced a food, what happen with it and what consequences I can get".
Pedro Landa, who also chairs the Cámara Argentina de Certificadoras de Alimentos, Productos Orgánicos y Afines (Cacer), said the organic market is growing fast. "Argentina has a very good reputation for product quality, has a very good position in the world, and the work of the national certifiers bodys is also very good", said Landa to Infocampo Radio.
