Neuquén has a new law on chemicals
The standard n° 2774 establishes guidelines for the use, stockpiling, transfer and disposal of packaging.
The argentinian province of Neuquén approved a law that aims to use chemicals in the application of certain chemicals. This creates a compulsory registration of all persons involved in this activity. Applicators must demonstrate training in safe use of agrochemicals.
The House Agricultural Health and Fertilizers (CASAFE), in this regard, said that the new rule "is a very positive development for the region" and will serve as a precedent for other provinces and regions to join in the future".
The Act n° 2774 was passed in September after a parliamentary debate involving the House, the National University of Comahue - Laboratory and provincial authorities Libiquima Environment and Production. The main advances of this new rule relating to the joint work of these institutions for the benefit of the people, the environment and production, based on the regulation of safe use in the application of agrochemicals, said CASAFE.
Following the enactment of this Act, the province set up a registry for people who carry out activities involving pesticides. The persons involved in the storage of chemicals for sale or for use in production facilities themselves or others should register. Carriers must also register to carry out their task.
In addition to registering, applicators must demonstrate training in safe use of agrochemicals. The rule states that these people must be conducted three times washing rigid packaging under the procedure established by IRAM 12,069, and packaging must carry the centers treated collection enabled.
Regarding the disposal of empty containers and waste, with three washing done, shall be in accordance with the procedures, type of product applied and according to specifications.
The creation of the collection centers, meanwhile, is the responsibility of the retailers of chemicals, exporters of vegetables, fruits and products thereof, chambers of producers and municipalities to adhere to this law.
