Changes in EUREPGAP Certification
The Standard EUREPGAP changes its name to GLOBALGAP.
Formal notification mentions that the reasons for such a change are referred to that over the years EUREPGAP was moving not only in Europe but throughout the world, even different countries have developed their standards approved as ChileGAP, MexicoGAP, KeniaGAP, etc.. precisely globalization of the protocol of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and the primary producers, traders and supermarkets, have led to more consistent look for a name and why today EUREPGAP is GLOBALGAP.
Along with the change of name there is new version of the protocol (3.0-Mar07). This new version finally unifies the protocols of Fruits and Vegetables, Flowers and Ornamental, Bulk Crop Production and Animal, Aquaculture, Te and Coffe, in a single protocol, and puts it under the name of that already existed IFA (Integrated Farm Assurance).
The main change in structure is that the protocol is divided into modules and to certify these modules must be combined according to the primary production to be performed.
This new version will be compulsory from January 1, 2008, on which date may not be issuing more licenses with the version currently used.
OIA is planning workshops that will be at no cost to clients of OIA and promotional pricingfor those interested in applying for OIA certification.
