XII OIA Annual Meeting, a success
On Thursday 3th of November, over 150 people attended the classic meeting organized by OIA.
As every year, Organización Internacional Agropecuaria (OIA) has once again gathered the various talks about trends, technical and agri-food marketing in the XII OIA Annual Meeting. Over 150 people attended the event which annually brings together the global value chain of the agri-food. In addition to the OIA customers, several people involved in the sector ha participated, as producers, traders, processors, national and provincial officials, representatives of government agencies and embassies, agricultural press, among others.
The peculiarity of this edition was the celebration of the 20 years of OIA, two decades of constant growth and committed service in the industry. OIA’s Director, Eng. Agr. Pedro Landa, highlighted the efforts undertaken since the beginning, and stressed the importance of the different people involved in the consolidation of the Argentinian leading certification office. In the end of the day, the Eng. Agr. Landa invited the audience to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of OIA with a cocktail.
One of the main presentations was from Pedro Landa, who elaborated on "Food Safety and Quality Today", specifically on the Modernization Act Food Safety (FSMA). Landa thanked the predisposition of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States for his cooperation with the material in which he was based for the dissertation. The Eng. Agr. Landa stressed the importance of FSMA for being a genuine breakthrough in the U.S. legislation on food security since 1938.
Another important presentation was the one of Eng. Agr. Luiz Carlos Rebelatto dos Santos. He lectured of Brazil 2014 World Cup, which will focus in sustainable and organic. He is a consultant of the firm WERT Consultoria e Treinamento Ltda in the area of organic for the Secretary of family farming of the Ministry of Agrarian Development of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Rebelatto dos Santos emphasized the unique opportunity provided by the Green Cup for Brazil and the region to strengthen a productive chain more structured and committed to the environment, with a differentiated demand that promotes social inclusion, employment and generation of income. Prior to the dissertation Rebelatto dos Santos, the Eng. Gabriel Berardinelli (OIA Technical Manager) explained the requirements of the organics in the Brazilian market.
Also, there was a panel on financing programs for small and medium companies, in which spoke Juan Manuel Alderete, from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, Eduardo Ciancio, from Fundación Banco Credicoop; Mariana Suarez, from Proargex (Proyecto de Promoción de las Exportaciones de Agroalimentos Argentinos) and Andres Superbi, from Fundación ExportAr. In this edition of the Annual Meeting, the classic panel of certified producers by OIA, who has bet on quality to differentiate their products, were: Carlos Camargo, from Finca Orgánica Rincón Deseado; Cristina Vaudagna and Carlos Bartolini, from Premium Coffee Site, and Fernando Garcia Plorutti of Endivias Belgrano S.A.
OIA handed certificates to the following outstanding producers in 2011 for his career, performance and commitment to the quality of its products: Industrias Químicas y Mineras Timbo S.A., Bodegas Cecchin S.A., Luis A. Ducret y Cia. S.A. In addition, as part of the celebration for OIA’s 20 anniversary, a present was given to the more senior producers in relation to OIA.
