Germany launched database on organic standards
Allows searching and comparing different organic standards and regulations.
The database was launched by the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food of Germany (Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung - BLE). The first three standards entered into the database are the EU Regulation on Organic Agriculture, the National Organic Program (NOP) of the U.S., and the Codex Alimentarius Guidelines for organic production.
The database offers customized searches, and searches based on different topics. It is available in three languages: Spanish, English and German. To use the database, you must first register. Like any new project, there are many points of improvement, as is keeping the database updated to include more laws and rules in the database.
It must be remembered that the information in the database is just a copy and compilation of different pieces of information, and that the legally binding documents are available on respective websites.
